Unhinged Gacha Festival-A Fundraiser For Eku's Head

Hey, Peeps!
I've been remiss in keeping up with my blog due to some RL knockdowns, but I'm back and hope to be doing some regular posting once again. I can't think of a better way to reintroduce my blog than doing a post for "Unhinged-A Festival For Eku's Head". Below is the text from Dolce Blackflag, who is the power behind this fundraising event:

"There is this great person named Eku Zhong. She is funny, talented, kind, and also quite ill. Not ill as in awesome, ill as in sick. Not sick as in super cool (well she is that too) but sick as in very, very ill.
You may or may not be aware of that- up until a few months ago, I wasn't. I was clueless. I had no idea because Eku doesn't make a big deal of it. Day in and day out, I would complain about my little problems and she would listen patiently and advise wisely.

Her presence as a friend is a blessing. She brings fun and light wherever she goes- and she does so in the face of incredible challenges. Her ability to stay positive no matter what is an enormous inspiration.
Her struggles started with MS. Then they found thyroid cancer, and through poor treatment it turned into bone cancer. Over the last seven years, literally countless surgeries, radiation therapies, bone replacements and marrow transplants later, the stress of repeated surgeries has left her skull fragile and yet more surgery is needed.

The area where her zygotic arch meets the temporal bone is severely compromised.
Literally there is a risk that her zygotic arch could lift off the temporal arch and push the temporal bone into her brain. Actions as simple as chewing hard food or yawning the wrong way could cause this.
There is hope. Another surgery could correct this issue, but it requires the purchase of a prosthesis to replace the damaged bone. This is where myself and a group of people who love her dearly come in, and you as well should you choose to help out.

From November 15th through December 15th, we will be running a festival in SL- a festival to celebrate Eku's titanium spirit. The event is called Unhinged. It will be a great big gacha fair with a skull theme, lots of DJs and super fun party time, in honor of this spirited and sweet person who is such an inspiration.
75% of the proceeds from gacha plays will go to the Eku's New Bone fund, to help offset the substantial out of pocket cost for this prosthetic."

I have learned over the years that the people of SL are a generous and giving group of people, and I'm hoping that all will dig into their pockets for the awesome gacha gifts and to help a fellow resident in serious need. If you don't know Eku, I urge you to take the opportunity to drop by her store, Culprit, and check out the amazing items for sale. And I urge you to attend the Festival so that Eku can receive the very seriously needed medical procedure to help her LIVE and improve her quality of life.

On The Darkside

When RL starts throwing punches, it can be highly distracting. A few hours in SL last night, helped me to relax, destress and just chill for a bit. Something I need to do more often. :)

I did manage a couple of hours at the Hair Fair which lightened my linden balance considerably, but this post isn't about those. :P I wanted to showcase 2 new releases from EMOtions because I think they're breathtaking, especially when paired together. This gown just flows with your movements and the intricate bodice is breathtaking. Paired with a brand new updo just released last Saturday, I couldn't have been more pleased.  Paired with this interesting and flawless skin from Glam Affair, it was the perfect dramatic look to suit my overly-dramatic life and mood.  Here's my walk on the darkside:

Knocked down and back up

There has been some upheaval in my in my RL lately, so I've gotten very behind on my blog posts.  Argh!  Catching up seems impossible, so to make life a bit easier, we're going to move on from here.

Hair Fair 2012 has arrived, and EMOtions has several new styles for the fair.  Each one has 2 different styles, and are scripted to change with a click. They include a really cute animation as the hairstyle changes, also.  I was utterly charmed. Help Gala

This is a departure from my usual blogging style.  It's not about clothes, but about the intellectural property right battle currently being fought by Gala Phoenix, owner of Curio. I won't share all of the details...they can already be found on numerous SL-related blogs all over the internet.  I will, however, share a link where you can read more about an upcoming benefit scheduled to run from July 9-15 and featuring some of SL's best designers.  The purpose of this event is to help Gala with any legal expenses she incurs.  It also will serve the purpose of showing designers united against the problem that is virtual copyright infringement.  Here's where you can find out more about the benefit:

New Releases From EMOtions

I was very excited to see the new releases from EMOtions this week. The dress just brought a picture into my mind immediately.  I love the texture of the skirt.  The hair I'm wearing is also from them, and the tiny roses are color-changeable.  I used red for the pictures, but there are several colors to choose from.

New Color Challenge-Cadmium Red

Unmellow Yello

I'm very late on this week's 52 Weeks Of Color Challenge submission.  This week's color was "unmellow yellow" and it seems that lingerie in yellow is proliferant around the grid. Since the last week has been extremely emotionally exhausting in RL, I was a little lazy with this color, I must admit. I really took the easy way out on this one, but I'll try and make up for it next week. I promise. :o) Also, for this pictures I'm wearing my first Laqroki skin since I was back on the grid in October, 2010, after a 2-year break from SL.  The skin is Phoebe2, and I wore it exclusively for months.  I now change skins to suit my mood, although I do have my favorite standbys.  I was formerly a Laq-only type girl, but there are sooooo many talented skin creators on the grid, and now frequent several on a regular basis.

Group gifts and a summer dress

I just had to share some really lovely recent group gifts with you all.  First, IKON V.I.P. group has migrated to IKON VIP group (without the "pesky periods"), and with that move they have posted 3, yes 3, eyes in their notices. I am a huge fan of IKON eyes, and have been since they were "Fashism", so to get 3 pairs made Shiloh one happy avie. Along with that, Izzie's released a lovely skin as their group gift. She is Estellam, and she comes with 2 make-up options, as well as teeth showing or not. I'm pretty  much a skin-whore, so getting this one from Izzie's, added to my delight. This absolutely gorgeous dress from Shiki just screamed to be worn on a beach on a balmy summer day. I love empire-style dresses, and this one comes in the color shown, as well as 2 other's.
